The story behind the boot
Since 1981, De Niro Boot Co means Italian creativity and craftsmanship all over the world. From a passion for the equestrian world and experience in the footwear field, the DeNiro story made of inspiration, research, and innovation starts. This is an Italian family story, of the Donadeo family.
”Our dream began in Southern Apulia with the aim of making premium quality riding boots that could bridge style and elegance to comfort and technical performance. De Niro Boot Co has been manufacturing Western horse riding boots both for competition and for training since 1981. ”
Filippo Donadeo and his wife Irene founded the company in 1981, based in Salento (the Southern part of the Italian Peninsula – the ‘heel’ of the geographical Italian ‘boot’).
“Our aim was – and still is – to create handmade equestrian boots that are not only comfortable and resistant but are also trendy and beautiful” Filippo explains.
“Living in Italy, the cradle of art gives us a particular sensibility for beauty and style. Irene and I have always been passionate about continuing the heritage of our region and nation” Filippo adds.
Ironically, when he was younger and he needed new boots, he had no choice but to order them from abroad. The first DeNiro boots were designed by Filippo for himself, as Filippo is a keen reiner. He has his own reining and training barn, Donadeo Stables, also based in Casarano, and it is his passion as a horseman that drives him to create such functional pieces of art in the riding footwear. Filippo wakes up every day at dawn to ride his horses.
“DeNiroBootCo is based in Casarano, the place where my horses, home, and heart are”, he adds.
